about my work

When I look up, I see the sky as a canvas bursting with abstract images of beauty and awe.  When I look around, I see the playful images of light and shadow reflecting off of everyday objects, waiting to be noticed.

From this perspective, I have been photographing intriguing and engaging abstract images influenced by pareidolia (such as seeing faces, shapes and more in reflections and clouds).

​

In my exhibitions, "Abstract Reflections" and "Perceptions" the photographs show humorous and mystical images created by reflections of light bouncing off of everyday objects. 

​​

In searching where my reflections photographs might fit within a particular genre, I found they give a nod to the modernists (1920-1960) - the creators of abstract photography, even though our processes differ dramatically. I digitally photograph images using iPhones 11 and 15 Pro and a Nikon P950.

Based on my reflections photography, I published a book entitled "Abstract Reflections - - A Modernist Perspective" (2023).

In addition I completed a series of photos and a book entitled "Enveloped by Clouds - A Photographic Spiritual Journey" (2023). The emphasis is on the inherent abstract nature, beauty, and magnitude of clouds.

In 2024, I developed an immersive video experience. entitled: “Inside A Cloud”, allowing the viewer to experience what it might feel like to be enveloped by clouds.

The video includes poetry, silence and music by Russel Walder. I’ve also published a book of the same name which includes poems and photos (2024).

Other areas of my website reflect my relationship with the environment, through Water, Sky, Shadows Silhouettes and the Sea.

I am now experimenting with alternative printing methods such as platinum palladium and silver gelatin printing, as well as painting with alcohol inks.​

biography

​

My early career began in fine arts and 

diverged into the fields of public service, university teaching, interior design, metaphysical studies and now photography. 

With these interests, I obtained degrees in fine arts  at Queens College, NY; a PhD in Clinical Social Work & Social Welfare, Adelphi University, NY; a certificate in Interior Design, Parson’s School of Design, NY & most recently received a B.Msc in Metaphysics, AZ.
